The Fmaj7 chord has often been called the chord of love. It’s a lovely chord, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve always though that’s a bit strong for this one!
I call this chord the “beginners F” as it doesn’t need a barre chord. If you fret this chord and only play the notes you’re pressing down then that is technically an F chord. However, it’s a little impractical as it’s challenging to only strum those three notes in a rhythm pattern.
Think of this chord like a C major.
